English proficiency certificates

The following are NOT recognized in Step 2 (admission period) as equivalents to a formal proficiency certificate:

  • English basic/ advanced course grade on a any secondary school leaving certificate (including German Abiturzeugnis and Scandinavian certificates)
  • 1 year abroad as an exchange student
  • English-speaking country citizenship (i.e USA/ UK/ CAN passport)
  • Certificate of completion of an English course
  • Completion of seminar/s or short-term course/s counducted in English
  • Completion of any preparatory course/s conducted in English
  • Completion of only some courses in English in secondary school or college/ university

right The following certificates are recognized in Step 2 (admission period) - please pay attention to corresponding minimal levels and/or scores!!:

1. Degree diploma (long cycle, first cycle, second cycle, third cycle):

- in the field of English Philology or Applied Linguistics

- in any field provided that the language of instruction was only English (regardless whether the degree was conducted in Poland or abroad)

2. Secondary school leaving diploma – provided that the language of instruction was only English (eg. AQA, Edexcel)

3. International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)

4. European Baccalaureate (EB)

5. Following certificates (level B2 minimum):

- First Certificate in English (FCE)

- Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

- Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)

- Business English Certificate (BEC) Vantage — minimum Pass

- Business English Certificate (BEC)

- Higher Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)

6. Certificates issued by the following institutions:

a) Educational Testing Service (ETS):

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) — minimum 87 points in Internet-Based Test (iBT)

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) — minimum 180 points in Computer-Based Test (CBT) supplemented with at least 50 points in Test of Spoken English (TSE)

Supplemented with at least 3,5 points in Test of Written English (TWE) and with at least 50 points in Test of Spoken English (TSE)

- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) — minimum 700 points

b) European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL)

c) City & Guilds, City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications, Pitman Qualifications Institute:
